Dear Christine from Marcus at Lorn V

Howdy everyone. I am really getting into Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. So into it, I think I would write a fictional letter from an Imperial Guard soldier to his girlfriend back in the Imperuim. I got the idea when I watched a Ken Burn's civil war documentary. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing.

To my dearest, sweetest Christine,

My heart grows cold as the snowfall on Lorn V, my darling, as I think about you each passing day. Those damn heretics have us pined down in a small bunker on the west side of Talorn. Why must those Choas forces resist his Emperor's will? I am confused but I must not let my feelings be known. It could be seen as an act of cowdarice. Commissar Ronalds executed a man today as a grim reminder to always fight to death. "Death before dishonor" is a common phrase posted within the barracks. Though this weather is harsh and unforgiving, it reminds me of the winters we shared back home. The snowball fights and winter festivals remind me of a peaceful time. Now, I must fight to survive in this desolate, frozen wastleland for glory of the empire. Our Space Marine comrades, Blood Ravens will be 3 weeks later than expected and we are running low of food and medicine. Bodies of my fellow squadmates lay cold in the snow. We have no time to mourn our brothers but to continue to squash the Choas threat from this world. Yesterday, we were routine patrol when we came across a group of Raptors and Possessed Space Marines when our Commander charged hard into the fray. "Do not waver, men!!!!! Keep fighting for glory of the Imperium!!!! He flew into the godless horde with mighty rage. Swinging his Sonichammer, he sent those bastards flying. We gave him supporting fire but he had already had the situation well in hand. We had won the day and it was for many to come. After seeing the courage and strength of our Commander, has wipe away all fear and doubt from my mind. I do think of you, but my duty is to the Emperor and to the Imperium he rules. After we take Lorn V, my squad will come back to the homeworld for R&R. I long to see again, my dearest.

Glory to the Emperor,

Private Marcus Longley
