As it fast approaches.....National Chump Day.

As the weeks go by, I notice something happens instantly as Christmas ends, National Chump Day is in full swing. What is National Chump Day you ask?  Some people call it Valentine's Day. Why am I so ornery about Feb. 14 you may think? I've been on this earth for going on 24 years and I since many a man killing themselves to get that special charm or ring to win the love of their beloved. Racking up bills and debt to impress some woman who doesn't even need what you give her. Tokens of love that will be tucked away in a drawer or jewelry box, only be worn on rare occasions. Yet, what if the relationship goes sour, a car down payment down the drain. Women don't shiny babbles or expensive displays to show you how much you love them. They need something meaningful and useful. Here's a few things I've learned to save yourself some cash on Chump Day:

1. Buy something that fits what she likes: Women love things that relate to them and what they love. If she loves chocolate, buy a simple (and reasonable) box. Charm bracelets are both meaningful and inexpensive if you plan them well. Buy a charm that fits her personality. If she like tennis, sailing and shopping, buy charms that match. It's not rocket science, but it's not a cakewalk.

2. Sales are your friend: A man doesn't have to spend a fortune to get the right gift for his sweetie. Sales are going to be massive around this time (mostly jewelers and department stores). A good rule of thumb is buy a Valentine's Day gift during the Christmas season. Yes, I did say Christmas season. Christmas are genuinely better than V-day because on V-day people will be naturally be for their sweethearts.

3. Avoid Jewelry Stores if you can: This is the time when they make their money. Try department stores instead. The selection is limited but their jewelry can be cheaper. Also, if you have no earthly idea, you can always snag a gift card while you are there.

Don't panic if you can't buy her Kay's, just be there for her on the Feb. 14th. Cook her a nice meal, a little candlelight, and a footrub and she will be putty in your hands. Valentine's day is only one day, but it's other 364 days that are really important. Don't break your bank to make her happy, just do right for her. National Chump Day is for fools who spend huge wads of cash to show love, real men don't need to spend as much.
