Sunday Notes 3: First Sunday Edition

First Sunday: To some it is  the holiest day of the month while others it is a movie starring Ice Cube and Katt Williams.  It is the day when we partake in holy communion. We do this to have our sins purged from the past month. It allows us to be stronger in our faith. Again, the announcements are long, drawn out, and boring. My boy, Terry, is here today.  He is going to be deployed tomorrow to Iraq. We don't talk much but I am going to miss him. His wife and kids are with him today. I wish him safe passage to and from Iraq.  Today, I don't have my buddy, Bubba with me. I believe he was being naughty and he is under his granny's thumb this morning. I don't mind because it gives me a chance to write this and enjoy church. Well, the sermon has began. The pastor's booming voice fills the entire sanctuary with the word of God. People waving cool air into their faces even as A/C blows from the ceiling. Summer has descended on us and even in God's house, we still feel the heat. It doesn't help when you are dressed up in robes and suits. Rev. made a reference to the movie, Aliens. I still don't know what he was talking but it didn't have the desired effect he was looking for. Mother Magus was very disgusted about a little alien busting out of a chest. Anyway, I better wrap this up. God Bless everyone and have a great day.
