A Special Post: MLK Eve...not a day off but a day on.

Hello everyone, I had this written down at church in order to post on before Martin Luther King day. Yet, life doesn't always allow you to do things you want to do. So I miss the post date by 3 weeks, lol. Anyway, I found it in my car and thought I would still post it as a special post for Black History month. So without further ado, enjoy.

As January draws to a close, we now stand on the eve of another Martin Luther King Jr. day. To all other communities, is is considered to be a bank holiday and a day of rest. Yet to the Black community, it's a day of reflection and remembrance of a dream realized over 40 years ago. From dawn to dusk, it's filled with parades, luncheons, formal events, and speeches. I feel that there is a disconnect between the true message and the actual day. If Rev. King were alive today, would he approve with all this pomp and circumstance? I believe we are missing the point for the day and that is the dream for a better life for all Americans, not just one race.  We eat and breathe Rev. King for a day (sometimes a week) and then we forget everything until next January. We should always remember his teachings and share them with our loved ones. Tomorrow, while we are enjoying the festivities, take time out to reflect on the man we honor this day. Take everyone and God Bless.
